QUAKE REMASTERED UPGRADE
Quake is available on all platforms now for $9.99, but if you have the original on PC, you'll receive the upgrade for free. Ultimately, the remaster might not be exactly what Quake fans were hoping for in terms of a new game or a remake, but the integration of modern consoles and the inclusion of new content opens up the classic to a new audience while extending a hand to veterans.

As one final treat, the remaster will have built-in mod support with a curated list of add-ons from fans and developers which happens to include all the old missions from Quake 64. The Remaster is now available on all platforms, including the Nintendo Switch. And now, thanks to Limited Run Games, Quake is getting its very own physical release a full 25 years after it first arrived on MS-DOS computers. Move up to the Deluxe Edition and you'll get a fancy PC-style box as you would have back in the '90s.

The Regular Edition will just be the game in a nice case and with a full-color manual for just 29.99. The remaster comes packed with all of Quake's original expansions, but MachineGames has also added some brand new free content to help celebrate the remaster of the game. A stellar remaster, Quake not only maintains the essence of id Softwares classic 1996 shooter, but it meaningfully iterates upon it too with all new additional. Quake Remastered released right at the end of August, and was a welcome surprise for fans of the series. Quake (remastered) will come in three different physical flavors on both Nintendo Switch and PS4.

I’ve actually never played the original Quake but it looks like I’m going to have to give this remake a try. With the addition of mod support, this Quake remake seems pretty solid, and fans of the original should have plenty of reason to hop back in and try it out. All versions of the game also have support for fan-created content through mods, which make the game much more appealing for a longer time. Switch users will be able to use gyro controls to aim, which could be really cool to see. The studio behind the remake, Nightdive Studios, also added a couple of new features. Quake now features 4K resolution, better lighting, and various other graphical improvements. This newly remastered version of the original game is now available for just $10 on PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC via Steam, Game Pass, and the Microsoft Store. Quakes 2D assets were designed with 320x200 resolution in mind, a resolution that uses non-square pixels, not for 320x240, with square pixels. Quake Remastered uses movement prediction which can cause some slippery movements at times especially if you are playing in a online server with high latency. Experience an updated and visually enhanced version of Quake.
